If you’re tripping breakers regularly, adding a heat pump, putting in an EV charger, or just realizing your 1970s panel is a fire waiting to happen. it’s time for a panel upgrade.
We do panel replacements and service upgrades across central Alberta and Saskatchewan. Residential, agricultural, commercial. We handle it all: the utility coordination, the permits, the inspection, and the actual install.
When you need a panel upgrade
Most people don’t think about their electrical panel until something goes wrong. Signs it’s time:
- Breakers trip regularly even when you’re not doing anything unusual
- The panel is hot or you hear buzzing when you open it
- You see scorching on breakers or wiring
- Double-tapped breakers (two wires in a single slot. common in older panels, not code)
- Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel. known fire risks, should be replaced
- 60A service to a house. not enough for modern appliances
- 100A service that’s maxed out. adding an EV charger, hot tub, or shop? You probably need 200A minimum
- Aluminum wiring in older homes (1960s-70s). needs inspection, may need remediation
- Adding significant load. solar, EV, heat pump, second suite
What we do
Residential
- 100A → 200A upgrades (most common)
- 200A → 400A for larger homes, shops, or EV + heat pump + hot tub combos
- Federal Pacific / Zinsco replacements
- Aluminum wiring remediation
- Sub-panel additions for shops, garages, basements, rental suites
Farm yards
- 200A → 400A service upgrades (grain dryer, multiple shops, guest cabin)
- Three-phase service installation (for large grain operations)
- Sub-panels to outbuildings, barns, shops
- Transfer switch integration for backup generators
Commercial
- Service upgrades for expanding businesses
- Load rebalancing when existing service is running hot
- Code compliance upgrades (insurance renewals, ownership changes)
- Emergency panel replacements after failures

Proper written quote after a site visit. not a phone estimate.
Our process
- Site visit (usually 20-30 minutes). we look at your existing service, assess what you need, identify any issues (aluminum wiring, grounding problems, etc.)
- Written quote within 2 business days
- Permit pulled. we handle all the paperwork with the municipality and Canadian Electrical Code
- Utility coordination. if we need Fortis/ENMAX/SaskPower to disconnect at the pole, we schedule it
- Install day. power off at service, out with the old panel, in with the new, terminate circuits, ground and bond, label everything
- Inspection. electrical inspector comes out, signs off
- Power restored. you’re back up with a modern, code-compliant service
Most residential panel upgrades: done in a single day. Farm yards with service upgrades: 1-3 days depending on trenching and utility work.
